Procurement Officer

Procurement Professional 12-Month Temporary Assignment | Newcastle, NSW Our Client is seeking a Procurement Professional to join their Newcastle-based team on a 12-month temporary assignment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement practitioner to contribute across sourcing, supplier management, category initiatives and procurement improvement projects within a large and complex organisation. The role offers broad exposure across procurement activities and would suit candidates from either a Procurement Officer or Category Specialist background.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support sourcing and procurement activities across a range of categories.
• Coordinate RFQ, RFT and RFP processes, including supplier engagement and evaluation activities.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Support contract administration, renewals and supplier agreements.
• Assist with category planning, market analysis and strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Analyse procurement data and prepare reports to support business decision-making.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures and governance requirements.
• Contribute to ongoing procurement transformation and process improvement initiatives.

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, supply chain or category management.
• Experience managing or supporting tender and sourcing processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management skills.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with procurement data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Highly regarded:

• SAP or ERP system experience, particularly SAP S/4HANA.
• Experience within mining, resources, construction, manufacturing, energy or other industrial environments.
• Qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline.
• CIPS qualification or membership.
