e2Cyber is proud to be partnering exclusively with a leading defence-focused organisation to appoint a Cyber Security Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical projects supporting Australia's sovereign defence capabilities.
Due to the nature of this role, candidates must hold a current NV1 Security Clearance and have previous Defence industry experience.
The Opportunity
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting cyber security governance, risk, compliance and accreditation activities across Defence projects. Working closely with technical teams, project stakeholders and security authorities, you will help ensure systems meet Defence security requirements and achieve successful security accreditation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Support Authority to Operate (ATO) and security accreditation activities.
• Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Risk Management Plans (SRMPs) and associated security artefacts.
• Conduct security risk assessments, security gap assessments and compliance reviews.
• Provide security governance and compliance support across Defence programs.
• Interpret and apply Defence and Australian Government security requirements.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure security obligations are understood and met throughout project delivery.
• Contribute to security documentation, reporting and assurance activities.
• Support continuous improvement of cyber security governance and risk management processes.
Essential Experience
• Current NV1 Security Clearance (Mandatory).
• Previous Defence industry experience (Mandatory).
• Australian Citizenship.
• Strong understanding of the Information Security Manual (ISM).
• Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) and security accreditation activities.
• Experience developing SSPs, SRMPs and other security documentation.
• Strong understanding of Defence security frameworks, DSPF and PSPF requirements.
• Experience conducting cyber security risk assessments and compliance assessments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience working within Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) focused cyber security roles.
Desirable Experience
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS or hybrid cloud environments.
• Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001 and Essential Eight frameworks.
• Familiarity with vulnerability management processes and security assessment activities.
• Understanding of security engineering and secure-by-design principles.
• Exposure to SIEM, security monitoring and incident response capabilities.
• Industry certifications including CISSP, CISM, CRISC, Security+ or equivalent.
• Experience working on complex Defence or Federal Government projects.
