Public Sector People is partnering with a Sydney Council to recruit an experienced Communications Officer to support a busy and high-impact communications function.

The Role
You’ll support the council’s communications function by managing media, creating clear and engaging content, and helping deliver communication and marketing plans.

What you'll be doing:
  • Write media releases, statements, and other communication materials
  • Manage media enquiries and work with journalists
  • Create content for digital and traditional channels
  • Develop, deliver, and review communication and marketing plans
  • Identify and promote positive stories about council services and projects
Do you have:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in media and public relations
  • Previous experience working in local government
  • Proven experience delivering communication campaigns
  • Well organised, able to manage deadlines and multiple tasks
  • Experience working for local government or a similar environment
