A private investment organization is seeking an entrepreneurial Investment Associate to join its lean investment team. This is a high-autonomy opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond analyzing transactions and take ownership of the investment process from initial sourcing through to execution.

The successful candidate will help identify and evaluate businesses that could become long-term investments, working closely with senior investment leadership and external advisors along the way.

About the Role

This is a full-cycle investment position rather than a traditional finance or reporting role. You will be responsible for building a pipeline of potential acquisition opportunities, developing relationships with business owners and intermediaries, assessing investment opportunities, and supporting transactions through due diligence and closing.

The role is particularly well suited to someone who is commercially minded, highly resourceful, and energized by creating opportunities rather than waiting for them to arrive.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute strategies for identifying attractive acquisition opportunities
  • Research industries and build targeted lists of potential investment candidates
  • Proactively source opportunities through direct outreach and relationship development
  • Build relationships with business owners, advisors, intermediaries, and other relevant contacts
  • Maintain a consistent pipeline of potential investments and track progress through the evaluation process
  • Review financial statements and assess the underlying performance and quality of potential investments
  • Build financial models and conduct valuation and investment analysis
  • Lead or coordinate due diligence activities across financial, operational, and commercial areas
  • Evaluate opportunities and present recommendations to senior investment leadership
  • Support negotiations and transaction execution from initial interest through completion
  • Provide regular updates on sourcing activity, pipeline development, and investment opportunities
  • Adapt between sourcing, analysis, and execution depending on the needs of the investment pipeline

What You Bring

  • Approximately 4–7 years of relevant experience in investment, transaction advisory, private equity, corporate development, or a related field
  • CPA designation is strongly preferred, particularly for candidates with a background in transaction services, financial due diligence, or public accounting
  • Strong financial analysis, modelling, and valuation capabilities
  • Experience evaluating businesses or investment opportunities from a financial and commercial perspective
  • Transaction or deal experience is a significant asset
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Commercial judgment and genuine curiosity about how businesses operate
  • Comfort working with senior stakeholders, business owners, and external advisors
