We are currently seeking an experienced Building Inspector to join a well-established and highly respected metropolitan local council on a temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a registered Building Inspector who enjoys working across a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial developments while contributing to the safety and compliance of a vibrant municipality.
Working within the Office of the Municipal Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in ensuring building works comply with relevant legislation while providing expert advice to builders, developers, residents and internal stakeholders.

Working within the Office of the Municipal Building Surveyor, you will play a key role in ensuring building works comply with relevant legislation while providing expert advice to builders, developers, residents and internal stakeholders.
About the Role Reporting to the Municipal Building Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting mandatory inspections of buildings and building works where permits have been issued.
- Assessing compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations, Australian Standards and relevant legislation.
- Investigating complaints relating to building safety, dangerous structures and non-compliance.
- Managing enforcement matters and providing practical regulatory solutions.
- Monitoring outstanding building permits and approvals, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Representing Council in Building Appeals Board matters where required.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the Municipal Building Surveyor team.
- Registration as a Building Inspector (Limited or Unlimited) with the Victorian Building Authority.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking statutory building inspections and enforcement activities.
- Strong knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, Australian Standards and associated legislation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound professional judgement.
- A current Victorian Driver Licence.
