Private Clients & Wealth Lawyer | Melbourne or Sydney

About the role
Join a highly regarded national tier 1 practice advising high-net-worth individuals, families and family offices on sophisticated private wealth, succession and commercial matters.

Our client is continuing to grow its national Private Clients practice and is looking to appoint an experienced lawyer in either Melbourne or Sydney.

This role will suit a lawyer with a strong private client background, or someone coming from Private M&A, Tax or Estate Planning who has developed solid experience advising on trusts, asset structures, succession and wealth planning.

You will work with high-net-worth individuals, families, family-owned businesses and family offices on a broad mix of complex, sensitive and commercially significant matters.

Your role will include (but not limited to)

• Trusts, wealth structuring and asset protection
• Estate and succession planning
• Intergenerational wealth transfer
• Family governance and family agreements
• Family office structuring and advisory work
• Acquisitions, disposals and restructures involving privately owned and family businesses
• Private investments and selected corporate/M&A transactions
• Philanthropic structures and charitable initiatives
• Coordinating broader legal, tax and commercial advice across clients’ broader affairs

You will have the opportunity to take ownership of matters, work closely with senior practitioners and specialists across the firm, and build direct relationships with clients and their advisers.

About you
You will ideally have 5+ years’ post-admission experience in private practice, with experience across one or more of the following areas:

• Private Clients / Private Wealth
• Tax
• Estate Planning
• Trusts and asset structuring
• Family office advisory
• Corporate / M&A involving private or family-owned businesses

You will bring strong technical skills, commercial judgement and excellent drafting ability, together with the maturity and discretion required to advise on complex and confidential matters.
