- $110,000 – $130,000 package (including super)
About the Opportunity
We are one of Australia’s most recognised healthy food chains, dedicated to positively impacting the lives of our people and communities. We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
In this role, you will be central to enabling data-driven decision-making across the business. You will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and modern analytics infrastructure, working closely with stakeholders across IT and business units to deliver high-performing data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Engineering & Orchestration: Build reusable, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data using tools like Fivetran and Airflow.
- Data Transformation & Modelling: Design and maintain complex dbt models in Snowflake using medallion architecture (Kimball/Inmon) and implement rigorous data quality testing.
- Data Visualisation: Develop and optimise Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, and interactive reports; manage Power BI Service environments, workspace administration, and Row-Level Security (RLS).
- CI/CD & DevOps: Build and support automated deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and Git across Dev, UAT, and Production environments.
- Stakeholder Management & Collaboration: Partner with data analysts and business leads to translate requirements into technical specs, manage project status, and solve operational data issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify cost and compute optimisations across cloud setups, establish standard documentation, and participate in peer code reviews.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on data engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
- Core Tech Stack:
- Data Warehouse: Strong proficiency with Snowflake (architecture, performance tuning, cost control).
- Transformation & Ingestion: Hands-on experience with dbt (Cloud/Core), Jinja, and Fivetran.
- BI & Analytics: Advanced Power BI, Power Query, M, and DAX skills with Git deployment workflows.
- Languages & CI/CD: Advanced SQL and Python skills, alongside experience with Azure DevOps for data workflows.
- Data Modelling: In-depth knowledge of Kimball/Inmon methodologies and medallion architecture concepts.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative, customer-focused approach to solving complex problems.
