About the role
We're seeking experienced Senior Automation Test Engineers to join a large-scale insurance platform program delivering outbound customer communications across Policy and Claims systems (print, email and SMS).
This is a hands-on role focused on the automation and functional testing of generated insurance documents. You'll conduct automation feasibility assessments, recommend suitable automation approaches, and develop, maintain and execute regression test suites, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and align with customer expectations.
Working within an Agile/Scrum environment, you'll be a key contributor to a multi-squad delivery team alongside Iteration Managers, Business Analysts, Developers and fellow QA specialists.

You'll conduct automation feasibility assessments, recommend suitable automation approaches, and develop, maintain and execute regression test suites, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and align with customer expectations.
Working within an Agile/Scrum environment, you'll be a key contributor to a multi-squad delivery team alongside Iteration Managers, Business Analysts, Developers and fellow QA specialists.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute automated tests using a BDD-based automation framework
- Ensure automated test scripts are stable, reusable and effective across all generated documents
- Perform business rule validation for generated insurance documents
- Configure, manage and maintain test environments for both automation and functional testing
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and provide regular updates on test progress and risks
- Contribute to peer reviews, walkthroughs and review meetings
- Maintain detailed bug reports, delivery notes and supporting documentation
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Senior Testing Specialist
- Document testing experience — validating generated documents (PDF, HTML and print-ready output)
- Strong Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) expertise, particularly with Cucumber
- Experience working with and validating complex XML structures
- Hands-on test automation using tools such as Ruby/Cucumber and Selenium
- Proficiency in at least one programming language — Java, Ruby, TypeScript or Python
- API testing experience using SoapUI or Postman
- Strong knowledge of version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions or similar)
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence for test planning, execution and defect tracking
- A solid understanding of context-based and risk-based testing for complex business applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Domain experience in insurance — claims, policy management, billing or document management
- Hands-on experience testing document-generation platforms
- Knowledge of PDF, HTML and print-ready document validation tools
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior to mid-level testers
- Play a key role on a major enterprise insurance platform program
- Hands-on, technically engaging automation work — not coordination
- Hybrid working arrangement (50/50 split)
- 6 month+ engagement with strong potential for extension
