Yoh Life Sciences is hiring for a Facilities Engineer Technician for our South San Francisco biotech client. This is a hands-on GMP facilities role supporting maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of facility, utility, cleanroom, and building systems in a regulated biotech manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on GMP facilities experience with HVAC, RTUs, chillers, boilers, air handlers, refrigeration systems, and related building/utility systems.
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Pay Rate: $50/hr, depending on experience
Job Type: Contract assignment
Shift: M–F, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM or M–F, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM

Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on GMP facility, utility, manufacturing, laboratory, and process equipment.
- Perform equipment calibrations and support validation/qualification testing to meet quality and regulatory requirements.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures, alarms, and maintenance issues; troubleshoot root cause and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Execute preventative maintenance activities to ensure optimal functionality of manufacturing, laboratory, utility, and building equipment.
- Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment in accordance with GMP guidelines.
- Support maintenance and repair activities in cleanroom and GMP manufacturing environments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment logs, work orders, and service records in a CMMS.
- Execute alarm response and support Building Management Systems (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS).
- Coordinate with vendors, area owners, manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, and facilities teams to schedule and complete maintenance activities.
- Manage parts, tools, and test equipment; ensure tools and test equipment are properly calibrated, maintained, and in safe working condition.
- Support Quality Change Controls, deviations, and CAPA investigations as needed.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement activities to support equipment reliability, safety, and GMP compliance.
Equipment Experience
- Hands-on experience with HVAC, RTUs, split systems, LP boilers, chillers, air handlers, refrigeration systems, air compressors/dryers, process gas distribution, utilities, and building/lab support systems.
- Experience with process and laboratory equipment such as isolators, incubators, freezers, refrigerators, LN2 cryo storage, centrifuges, pumps, vacuum skids, VHP systems, and backflow preventers is a plus.
- Experience supporting equipment or projects involving mechanical and electrical components, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
- Understanding of AC and DC power distribution, including circuit protection, sizing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing equipment support.
- Experience with PLC hardware platforms such as Beckhoff, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Experience with CMMS, BMS, EMS, BMRAM, TrackWise, SAP, Setra, Confluence, or Smartsheet is a plus.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in engineering, facilities, maintenance, utilities, calibration, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands-on facilities, utilities, maintenance, calibration, or equipment support experience.
- Experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment; biotech, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, cell therapy, or cleanroom manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC, RTUs, chillers, boilers, air handlers, refrigeration systems, or related facility/utility equipment.
- Strong understanding of GMP expectations, quality standards, documentation practices, and equipment maintenance requirements in a regulated environment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing complex facility, utility, manufacturing, laboratory, or process equipment.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, equipment manuals, P&IDs, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including accurate completion of work orders, equipment logs, and maintenance records.
- Ability to work collaboratively with facilities, manufacturing, QC, QA, engineering, and external vendors.
- Effective communication skills and ability to clearly explain technical issues to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety, compliance, equipment reliability, and high-quality standards.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
