Azure Cloud Engineer

About the Role

A large‑scale transformation program is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join a high‑performing cloud services workstream. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on engineering, modern automation practices, and building secure, scalable cloud environments that support rapid application delivery. Working alongside architecture, security and project teams, you’ll help shape and deploy enterprise‑grade Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, DevOps pipelines and hybrid connectivity patterns.
This position offers long‑term stability, complex technical work, and the opportunity to contribute to cloud standards, reusable patterns and automation frameworks that will underpin future digital delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision, configure and support Azure hosting services and core cloud resources.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, ARM or Terraform.
  • Develop and optimise Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
  • Configure Azure networking, identity, security and platform integrations.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers and engineers to deliver cloud hosting solutions.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and platform issues across Azure environments.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and operational support capabilities.
  • Contribute to cloud engineering standards, reusable templates and automation frameworks.
  • Ensure all solutions meet security, governance and operational requirements.

Skills & Experience
  • Strong background engineering and supporting solutions in Microsoft Azure.
  • Hands‑on experience with IaC (Bicep, Terraform, ARM).
  • Proven capability building Azure DevOps pipelines (YAML, Git).
  • Solid understanding of Azure networking, identity, RBAC and security controls.
  • Experience deploying and supporting cloud‑hosted infrastructure and landing zones.
  • Comfortable working in Agile and DevOps environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work autonomously within cross‑functional teams.

Technical ExposureAzure Platform: Azure Landing Zones, App Services, Functions, Storage, Key Vault, API Management, Azure SQL, Monitor, Log Analytics, Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints, Managed Identities.

DevOps & Automation: Azure DevOps, Git, YAML pipelines, Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell, Azure CLI.

Security: Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, Azure Policy, secure secrets management, certificate management.

  • Infrastructure deployments are automated, repeatable and compliant.
  • Cloud environments are secure, supportable and aligned to enterprise standards.
