About the Role

The APAC M&A Technology & Data Team is seeking a Data Migration Analyst to support technology-related mergers, acquisitions, divestments, integrations and separations across the region.

In this role, you will support the planning and execution of data migration activities, ensuring that data is accurately assessed, validated, reconciled and transferred across source and target environments. You will work closely with business and technology teams, including GTI, Cybersecurity and DevOps, to manage data quality, investigate migration issues, maintain audit-ready evidence and ensure compliance with applicable governance, security and control standards.

This is a hands-on role for an analytical and detail-oriented professional who can combine strong data skills with effective stakeholder coordination and delivery management.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Migration, Validation & Reconciliation
  • Support data migration planning and execution across M&A technology programmes.
  • Analyse source and target data structures, formats, volumes, quality and dependencies.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, loading, validation and reconciliation activities.
  • Develop and execute validation rules, completeness checks and reconciliation reports.
  • Compare pre- and post-migration data to identify discrepancies, omissions, duplicates and unexpected changes.
  • Investigate data defects, identify root causes and coordinate remediation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support test data preparation, testing, migration dress rehearsals, cutover and post-migration verification.
  • Document validation results, defects, assumptions, decisions and approvals.
  1. Data Governance, Risk & Controls
  • Apply data governance, information security, privacy and retention requirements throughout migration activities.
  • Maintain data inventories, source-to-target mapping documents, data lineage records and migration control documentation.
  • Ensure data owners, custodians and approvers are clearly identified for relevant datasets.
  • Contribute to data quality standards, acceptance criteria, control checklists and governance reporting.
  • Prepare supporting evidence for project assurance, risk reviews, audits and regulatory enquiries.
  • Identify and escalate data risks, control gaps and unresolved issues promptly.
  1. Test Coordination & Incident Management
  • Compile, maintain and coordinate migration runbooks covering test phases and cutover activities.
  • Coordinate data transfer activities across testing cycles and cutover windows.
  • Take ownership of incident and defect coordination, working with relevant stakeholders to drive issues through resolution, mitigation or formal acceptance.
  • Track actions, dependencies, risks, issues and decisions through to closure.
  • Support timely communication of migration readiness, incidents and outstanding risks.
  1. Stakeholder & Delivery Management
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across APAC markets and delivery teams.
  • Work closely with GTI, Cybersecurity, DevOps, data owners and other relevant teams to support migration execution.
  • Translate technical data findings into clear business impacts, risks and recommended actions.
  • Provide concise status updates and progress reports to project teams and governance forums.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of migration methodologies, templates, controls and lessons learned.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in data migration, data analysis, data quality, technology delivery, testing or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience in data extraction, transformation, validation and reconciliation.
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to analyse and investigate datasets.
  • Understanding of source-to-target data mapping, transformation rules, data lineage and defect management.
  • Experience developing test scenarios, validation rules, reconciliation reports and supporting evidence.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify anomalies and assess their potential impact.
  • Experience working in structured project or change environments involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurately against tight deadlines in a complex, changing environment.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestments, separations, integrations or large-scale technology migrations.
  • Experience in financial services, banking or another highly regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with data governance, privacy, information security, records management and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with ETL tools, data profiling tools or cloud data platforms.
  • Knowledge of automated testing or scripting using Python, PowerShell or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Power BI, Jira, ServiceNow or equivalent delivery and reporting tools.
  • A relevant qualification in Data, Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with international teams across APAC markets.

Working Arrangements

The role requires rotational shift coverage during a one-week testing cycle that takes place every three weeks. Shifts will be rostered according to project requirements, with no fixed schedule. Contractors may work from home for shifts outside regular office hours.

Key Measures of Success

  • Data migration validation activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Data defects, reconciliation breaks and control issues are identified, documented and resolved or appropriately escalated.
  • Migration evidence is complete, traceable and readily available for review.
