Job Description:
This Shift Maintenance Technician role is ideal for an electrically biased, multi-skilled engineer who enjoys working within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful Shift Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns, completing planned preventative maintenance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise plant reliability and uptime.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out reactive breakdown repairs across production machinery.
- Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults.
- Installing, repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
- Raising and completing maintenance work orders through the CMMS.
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
- Communicating effectively across shifts to ensure smooth handovers.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with Health & Safety legislation.
- Assisting with contractor management when required.
Skills & Experience:
The successful Shift Maintenance Technician will ideally have:
- Time-served engineering apprenticeship.
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Electrical bias with multi-skilled maintenance experience.
- Previous experience within manufacturing or production environments.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on industrial machinery.
- Experience carrying out both reactive and planned maintenance.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Flexible approach to supporting production requirements.
