Job Title: Operations Manager (Water & Wastewater Infrastructure)
Location: Tullamore or Kilkenny office base (travel to sites across the Southeast & Midlands of Ireland)
Salary: Competitive / DOE
Summary:
Gi Group is recruiting on behalf of a growing civil engineering contractor delivering large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Ireland. This is a permanent Operations Manager position within the water delivery function, overseeing multiple live sites across the Southeast and Midlands. The role will be based from either the Tullamore or Kilkenny office and will involve regular site travel, working closely with contract leadership to drive safe, efficient, high-quality delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations across multiple water and wastewater projects from planning through to completion
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality and environmental standards, and relevant industry regulations
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, resource allocation and mobilisation across sites
- Coordinate with site managers, design teams, engineers, subcontractors and local authorities
- Develop and maintain project timelines, tracking progress against milestones and KPIs
- Plan and oversee logistics including material deliveries, licences/permits and equipment mobilisation
- Ensure projects meet technical specifications, quality standards and client expectations
- Lead and support field teams, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure consistent delivery performance
- Run pre-site meetings and ensure site teams are aligned on programme, safety and quality requirements
- Support recruitment, training and performance management of operational staff as required
- Ensure adequate workforce levels across projects and manage changing site priorities
- Identify change, manage impacts and implement change control processes through to agreement
- Ensure compliance and completion of as-built drawings/sketches and work safety files
- Monitor budgets, control operational costs and support profitable project delivery
- Prepare regular operational reports and maintain accurate documentation and project records
- Act as a main point of contact for clients, stakeholders and regulatory bodies; attend progress meetings and provide updates
- Manage expectations and resolve issues/escalations effectively
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar Operations Manager role within the water and wastewater sector
- Relevant academic or technical qualification (engineering/civil/water-related)
- Experience working to Irish or UK water standards
- Strong leadership, organisation and problem-solving capability with experience managing multiple concurrent projects
- Strong track record coordinating subcontractors and communicating effectively with stakeholders
- Proficient with AutoCAD, MS Project and general IT tools
- Full driving licence (essential)
- Confident, self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team
