Position Details
Under general supervision, the School Nurse is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of all students by providing health services such as nursing assessments, nursing treatment, first aid, health-related counseling, and emergency care. Supervises the daily operations of the assigned school health room. Serves as an active member of the District Student Services team, District wellness councils, and the District crisis response teams.
Education: Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Certification/License: Must possess valid South Carolina licensure as a Registered Nurse. Must possess current CPR/AED certification. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license or government-issued picture ID. Work Experience: Two (2) years of recent nursing experience in a school, critical care, or public health setting with children preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
