Marine Project Engineer

Through Rio Tinto’s partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with Marine experience.
This is a newly created Project Engineer position supporting a major structural integrity program on the PPT Wharf in Dampier. Working on an 8:6 roster, you will oversee contractors, coordinate structural remediation works, manage quality and project documentation, and help deliver critical shutdown activities within a live operational marine environment. The role requires a self-motivated and adaptable professional who can navigate changing priorities, solve problems on the ground, and contribute to the successful delivery of this project.

Reporting to the Superintendent Delivery and working in a collaborative and exciting environment, you will:
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of structural integrity works on a major wharf infrastructure project, ensuring scope, schedule and safety requirements are achieved.
- Oversee contractor activities on site, providing direction, support and resolution of technical and operational issues as they arise.
- Coordinate and monitor structural remediation works including blast and paint programs, structural steel repairs and replacement of beams and other infrastructure components.
- Review, assess and respond to contractor technical queries, making practical engineering decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Conduct on-site verification of completed works, including quality inspections, quantity measurements and management of project documentation.
- Support shutdown and outage execution activities, including schedule validation, stakeholder coordination and attendance at shutdown planning meetings.
- Manage quality outcomes and defect close-out processes, ensuring compliance with project specifications and documentation requirements.
- Adapt to changing project priorities, identifying alternative work scopes and maintaining project momentum when operational constraints or schedule changes impact planned activities.
About You
- Proven structural integrity project experience in industrial or marine environments.
- Proactive problem-solver with strong decision-making and adaptability.
- Structural engineering qualification or relevant trade background with site delivery experience.
- Resilient, hands-on professional who thrives in challenging operational environments.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dedication to everyone’s safety
- Current C Class manual drivers’ license
- Relevant trade qualifications and certificates
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and other testing
