Structural Steel Fabricator

My client based in Leicester requires a metal fabricator, also adept in skilled plating our ideal candidate needs to fabricate prepare, shape, align, and assemble steel plate and structural metalwork before and during welding.

Typical duties include:
· Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
· Measuring, marking out and cutting steel plate.
· Using tools and machinery such as burners, grinders, drills, guillotines and plate machines.
· Forming and bending plate to the required shape.
· Setting up components and using tack welding to hold them in position.
· Checking dimensions, angles, levels and alignment.
· Fitting plates, stiffeners, brackets, frames and other components.
· Preparing work for welders or carrying out welding if qualified.
· Correcting distortion and ensuring the finished fabrication meets specifications.
