Why this role
This is a hands-on Product Owner role focused on executing product vision and driving day-to-day delivery for a platform built specifically to support residential homebuilders. You’ll own backlog and release execution, partner closely with builder customers, and help modernize the platform while ensuring it continues to solve real field and back-office workflow problems across the full homebuilding lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Own backlog and sprint execution: prioritization, user stories, acceptance criteria, release planning
- Act as the voice of the builder customer: run discovery calls, translate real jobsite/back-office needs into build-ready requirements
- Drive delivery outcomes across a small team (BA/Scrum, QA, Devs), ensuring predictable sprint/release cadence
- Lead execution for the modernization initiative (legacy to browser-based web app including:
- Incremental migration planning
- Maintaining/improving the legacy product during transition
- Clear scope control and dependency management
- Define and track measurable outcomes tied to adoption and product value (usage, retention, workflow completion, reduced cycle time, etc.)
- Partner with stakeholders on ERP/accounting and operational integrations commonly found in builder environments
- Identify and prioritize AI-enabled features that deliver practical value to builder workflows (not “AI for AI’s sake”)
- Maintain high-quality product documentation and delivery hygiene (roadmaps, release notes, change impact, training/support readiness)
Required Qualifications (must-have)
- 5+ years of experience in Product Owner / Product Management for B2B software (SaaS preferred)
- Demonstrated experience delivering software for residential construction / homebuilding OR construction technology with clear builder workflow exposure
- Proven track record working on full lifecycle construction software initiatives (not a single module only)
- Strong Agile execution: backlog management, sprint planning, UAT coordination, release readiness
- Experience with integrations involving ERP/accounting/job costing systems and operational platforms
- Comfortable translating ambiguous builder/customer needs into clear, testable requirements
- Able to work effectively with engineering on modernization efforts (legacy + rebuild)
- Direct experience with builder platforms (examples: construction ERP, scheduling, purchasing, warranty systems)
- Experience shipping AI/automation features embedded into workflow software
