Estimator

Location: Dronfield, S18
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum

Barker Ross are recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established construction contractor based in Dronfield.

The business has a strong track record of delivering medium to large-scale construction projects across the commercial and healthcare sectors, including refurbishments, new build schemes and Design & Build projects.

This is a permanent opportunity for an Estimator looking to join a busy and established team, with the chance to take ownership of tenders and play a key part in the continued growth of the business.

The Role

As Estimator, your responsibilities will include:

• Managing tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities

• Obtaining and comparing subcontractor, labour, plant and material quotations

• Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing

• Producing detailed and consistent cost breakdowns

• Attending site visits and meetings where required

• Working closely with project managers, site teams, design teams and procurement

• Supporting improvements to estimating processes and cost control

• Assisting with commercial decisions to help maximise project profitability

Projects are predominantly located around Sheffield and the surrounding areas, including Rotherham, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Newark and Nottingham.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with:

• Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry

• Experience with refurbishment, commercial new build and Design & Build projects

• A strong understanding of construction methods and site requirements

• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents

• Strong numerical and analytical skills

• Good negotiation and communication abilities

• Excellent attention to detail

• The ability to manage deadlines and multiple tenders

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

• Experience using Causeway would be advantageous, although not essential

• Knowledge of framework agreements would also be beneficial

• A full UK driving licence

Package

• Salary of £50,000 – £70,000 per annum, dependent on experience

• Permanent, full-time position

• 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays

• One day working from home per week, subject to agreement
