Apply directA healthcare organization in New York City is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Brooklyn to support a busy primary care clinic serving adult patients.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Day
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm (rotating to Monday, Tuesday, and Friday; 11am to 7pm every 3 weeks)
- Setting: Ambulatory clinic
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical support to providers during patient visits, including taking vital signs and documenting results in the electronic medical record
- Perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimens, and complete point-of-care testing with accurate documentation
- Assist with EKGs, procedures, patient screenings, and preparation of exam rooms and clinical supplies
- Support administrative and care coordination tasks such as scheduling appointments, drafting prescription requests, and obtaining prior authorizations
- Participate in daily huddles, quality improvement activities, and ongoing patient care coordination with the clinical team
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant (MA)
- High School Diploma / GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) program
- Medical Assistant (MA) certification
- Current BLS certification
- Experience with vital signs, blood pressure monitoring, phlebotomy, rapid testing, and EKGs
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with learning new EMR systems
Desired Qualifications:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience working in Primary Care settings
- Familiarity with Adult patient populations
- Exposure to LGBTQ+ or other diverse Community Health settings
- Experience with Psychiatric Care or Behavioral Health populations
