Barwon Water delivers water, sewerage and recycled water services to more than 330,000 people across the Geelong region and surrounding communities. Through a major Digital Business Transformation program, the organisation is investing in new technologies, operating models and ways of working that will shape the future of the business and the communities it serves.

About the Transformation

Barwon Water is moving beyond traditional project delivery and creating a capability-led transformation model designed to support the organisation’s long-term future.

As significant initiatives such as the implementation of IBM Maximo and other digital transformation investments progress, a key priority is ensuring leaders and teams are equipped to successfully absorb, adopt and sustain change. Rather than owning change activities directly, Barwon Water is focused on building lasting change leadership capability across the organisation.

About the Role

This is an organisational capability role, not a project-based change management position.

As Change & Readiness Lead, your focus will be helping leaders successfully own and lead transformation within their areas of responsibility. Through frameworks, coaching, readiness planning and advisory support, you will help ensure change is effectively embedded long after projects and programs have been delivered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and evolve Barwon Water’s change management framework, standards and readiness methodology.
  • Build change leadership capability across executives, leaders and product owners.
  • Develop readiness assessments, transition plans and adoption strategies across the transformation portfolio.
  • Provide strategic advice on organisational readiness, adoption risk and change complexity.
  • Measure adoption outcomes and support the sustained embedding of change following go-live.

About You

You understand that successful transformation is ultimately about people, leadership and organisational behaviour. Comfortable influencing without authority, you build trust quickly and help leaders navigate complex change while creating lasting organisational capability.

Must-Have:

  • Significant experience leading organisational change, transformation readiness or enterprise-wide change capability initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and driving outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong coaching, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience building change leadership capability in others.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Formal qualifications or certifications in Change Management, Organisational Development or related disciplines.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to support communication, readiness or change management activities.
