Client is seeking a Machine Vision Software Engineer to develop software and algorithms for processing imaging data. This role supports inspection technology, production processes, and product-quality feedback within a manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with the engineering measurements and controls group to develop data-manipulation approaches supporting production and quality feedback.
- Develop software and image-processing algorithms for inspection technologies.
- Transition technology from early-stage development into production-ready manufacturing solutions.
- Create and update production documentation for applications and procedures.
- Train engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel to use and maintain developed applications and procedures.
- Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting through data and application-performance analysis.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
- Bachelor's degree.
- Programming ability, with C# and Python strongly preferred.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming and software architecture concepts.
- Knowledge of image-processing algorithms, including blob analysis, edge finding, morphology, feature extraction, classification, and metrology.
- Experience with data retrieval, plotting, and analysis.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Ability to work effectively with customers and coworkers while also working independently.
Preferred Skills or Experience
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Optics.
- Experience with image-processing development packages such as HALCON or OpenCV.
- Ability to train convolutional neural networks and use traditional machine-learning methods.
- Knowledge of statistical-analysis approaches and MEE concepts.
- Ability to interface with database management systems.
- Experience with metrology, inspection, and product quality in manufacturing environments.
- Experience developing optical measurement systems involving optics, lighting, cameras, image acquisition, image analysis, lasers, or 3D measurement.
- Fundamental knowledge of physical optics.
Work Details
- Hybrid role based in Painted Post, New York.
- 40 hours per week.
- No travel required.
