We are seeking a Release management lead to work with our client AGL as they undergo Retail Transformation to better support customers on their journey toward a sustainable, electrified future.
This is a high-impact contract opportunity for a hands-on Release Management Lead who has personally led end-to-end releases in complex environments — not someone operating on the sidelines.
This is a 12 month contract role in Melbourne CBD in a hybrid working environment.
About the Role
You will own and lead end-to-end release management across a multi-stream transformation program, ensuring safe, predictable and high-quality delivery across both program and BAU releases.
You’ll also be shaping and evolving the release framework in a highly complex, multi-platform environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and govern the end-to-end release management framework
• Lead integrated release planning and orchestration across multiple delivery streams
• Manage release calendars, dependencies, and cross-platform coordination
• Drive release governance, readiness, and go/no-go decision processes
• Oversee deployment execution, runbooks, and release readiness reviews
• Lead risk, quality, and impact management across all releases
• Define and manage hypercare processes and transition to BAU
• Act as the key escalation point for release risks and issues
• Provide clear reporting and updates to senior stakeholders and governance forums
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience leading end-to-end releases in large-scale, complex environments
• Strong background in release governance, planning, and execution
• Deep understanding of:
o Risk & change management
o Deployment and hypercare models
o Multi-stream program delivery environments
• Experience coordinating cross-platform, multi-vendor releases
• Demonstrated people leadership experience (leading senior practitioners or managers)
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to stay calm and decisive in high-pressure release environments
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow (or similar)
