We're looking for an Automation Test Engineer to join a cutting-edge payments technology team developing and testing Android-based POS devices. This role is focused on device-level automation rather than web applications, making it ideal for someone with experience testing Android hardware, mobile devices, laptops or other connected devices.
You'll help build robust automation frameworks, improve test coverage and ensure the quality and reliability of Android-based payment solutions.
What you'll be doing
- Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks for Android devices
- Build automated functional, regression and integration test suites
- Test Android devices, POS terminals and connected hardware
- Validate device behaviour, operating system interactions and application performance
- Work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve defects
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Analyse test results and continuously improve automation coverage
- Support and mentor other team members where required
What we're looking for
- 4-6+ years' experience in software test automation
- Strong experience automating tests for Android devices (rather than web applications)
- Experience testing physical devices such as Android handhelds, POS terminals, mobile devices or laptops
- Hands-on experience with Appium, Espresso, UI Automator or similar Android automation tools
- Strong programming skills in Java, Kotlin or Python
- Experience testing REST APIs and backend services
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery
Nice to have
- Experience within payments or POS environments
- Understanding of Android hardware and peripherals
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or cloud-native environments
- Knowledge of EMV or payment transaction flows
