About the Organisation
Charitable Reuse Australia (CRA) is the national peak body representing charitable reuse organisations across Australia.
The organisation works to strengthen the sustainability and impact of the sector through advocacy, capacity building, education and impact measurement. CRA plays an important role in promoting the environmental, social and economic value of reuse and advancing circular economy outcomes.
CRA also delivers the Clothing Reuse Export Accreditation Scheme, supporting transparency and responsible practices across the sector. Working closely with members, government, partners and industry, CRA continues to build the case for investment in reuse and sector development
As CEO, you will work closely with the Chair and Board to lead the organisation, represent the sector nationally and internationally to ensure CRA continues to deliver meaningful value to its members.
The Role
Reporting to the Chair and Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead CRA through its next phase of impact, growth and sector influence.
This is a highly visible leadership role, responsible for shaping national advocacy, building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring CRA remains a trusted and influential voice for the charitable reuse sector.
You will balance strategic leadership with operational oversight, working closely with members and partners to deliver meaningful outcomes and long term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Lead the development and delivery of CRA’s strategic priorities and organisational objectives
- Identify opportunities to strengthen impact, influence and long term sustainability
- Identify opportunities to strengthen CRA’s impact, positioning and growth.
- Lead a cohesive advocacy agenda across state and federal government
- Represent CRA as a credible and influential voice across government, industry and media
- Strengthen engagement with key portfolios including environment, energy, employment and community
- Build strong, trusted relationships with members, supporters and partners
- Ensure meaningful value delivery through advocacy, collaboration and shared learning
- Support member growth, retention and engagement
- Develop and implement revenue strategies across membership, partnerships, sponsorship and funding
- Strengthen financial sustainability and organisational resilience
- Apply sound financial management and commercial judgement
- Oversee the Clothing Reuse Export Accreditation Scheme
- Strengthen credibility, transparency and ongoing development of sector standards
- Support improved data, measurement and evidence to underpin advocacy and decision making
- Support the Board with high quality advice and governance practices
- Ensure strong compliance, risk management and organisational performance
- Lead and develop a collaborative, high performing team
- Foster a culture aligned with CRA’s purpose and values
Candidate Profile
Experience
- Senior executive leadership experience
- Financial and commercial acumen
- Background in advocacy, policy, stakeholder engagement or government relations
- Proven ability to deliver strategy and organisational priorities
- Experience working with Boards and governance structures
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship management skills
- Valid and up to date to passport
- Experience in charitable reuse, circular economy, sustainability, waste, retail, social enterprise or adjacent sectors will be beneficial, though not essential.
