Associate / Senior Associate – Estimating (Transmission & Distribution)

London | Hybrid Working (1-2 days in the office at Euston)

The Opportunity

We are supporting the growth of a leading project and cost management consultancy and are seeking experienced Estimators to join their expanding Infrastructure team.

This opportunity is ideally suited to Associate and Senior Associate level professionals with a strong background in the estimation of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects. You will play a key role in developing robust cost estimates, supporting investment decisions, and providing commercial confidence across major electricity network programmes.

Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you will contribute to the successful delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects that support the UK's evolving power network and net-zero ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review cost estimates for Transmission & Distribution projects across the project lifecycle.

• Develop estimates for overhead line and substation projects, including new build, expansion, refurbishment, reconductoring, and network reconfiguration schemes.

• Produce detailed cost plans using benchmark data, historical project information, and industry-standard estimating methodologies.

• Support business case development, investment appraisals, and funding approvals.

• Work closely with project managers, engineers, planners, and commercial teams to ensure estimate accuracy and consistency.

• Identify project cost risks, opportunities, assumptions, and estimate uncertainties.

• Contribute to estimating governance, assurance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Provide cost advice and challenge throughout project development and delivery stages.

• Support tender reviews, contractor submissions, and estimate validation exercises where required.

About You

We are interested in professionals who can demonstrate:

Associate Level

• Minimum 5 years' experience in estimating within infrastructure, utilities, energy, or power transmission sectors.

• Experience producing cost estimates for Transmission & Distribution projects.

• Understanding of overhead line and/or substation project delivery.

• Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.

Senior Associate Level

• 10+ years' experience in estimating and cost management on major infrastructure or energy programmes.

• Proven expertise in developing and reviewing complex cost estimates for Transmission & Distribution assets.

• Experience mentoring junior estimators and supporting project delivery teams.

• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide strategic cost advice.

Desired Experience

• Estimating experience on overhead line projects including:

  • New build transmission lines

  • Reconductoring programmes

  • Network reconfiguration works

  • Refurbishment and upgrade schemes

• Estimating experience on substation projects including:

  • New build substations

  • Capacity expansions

  • Asset replacement programmes

  • Reconfiguration and upgrade works

• Experience with 400kV transmission assets is highly desirable, although candidates with strong experience across lower voltage transmission or distribution networks will also be considered.
