Melbourne - Northern Suburbs | Secondary SEN Teacher | Term 1, 2027

Are you ready to plan your next move?

AndFound Educate is currently partnering with a specialist school in Melbourne's north to appoint multiple Secondary Classroom Teachers for Term 1, 2027, with some earlier starts available from Term 4, 2026.

This is a genuinely different kind of teaching role. You will work with secondary-aged students on the autism spectrum in small, well-supported classrooms, using a structured teaching approach the school trains you in from day one. You do not need previous special education experience. You need an interest in how students with autism learn, and a willingness to be taught.

About the School

This is a Victorian Government specialist school working with students on the autism spectrum across Melbourne's north. Students here have autism as their primary diagnosis, and many do not have an intellectual disability. The barriers are communication, social interaction and emotional regulation rather than cognitive capacity teachers often find they are working with students operating at or near age level academically, while needing significant support to access learning.

Classes are small, single figures and staffed by teams of two to three, with the school aiming for two teachers plus an education support staff member in each room. Speech pathologists and occupational therapists work on site alongside teaching teams. The Later Years program runs an Applied Learning Program focused on preparing students for life after school. All structured teaching resources, visuals and planning supports are provided you are not building them from scratch.

A whole-school positive behaviour support approach underpins everything, with individual learning plans developed each term in partnership with families and allied health professionals.
