Talent Acquisition Specialist/Recruiter (with DOT experience)

Full-Cycle Recruiting
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from requisition approval through offer acceptance and onboarding.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, workforce planning initiatives, and position requirements.
- Develop and execute recruiting strategies to attract qualified candidates for transportation, warehouse, operations, and support positions.
- Source candidates through job boards, social media platforms, employee referrals, networking events, career fairs, and community outreach efforts.
- Conduct phone screens, interviews, and candidate assessments to evaluate qualifications and cultural fit.
- Coordinate and schedule interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
- Extend employment offers and facilitate offer negotiations when appropriate.
- Maintain consistent communication with candidates throughout the hiring process.
DOT Recruiting & Compliance
- Recruit and hire CDL Drivers and other DOT-regulated positions.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) hiring requirements and company policies.
- Coordinate pre-employment screening processes, including:
- DOT background checks
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reviews
- Drug and alcohol testing
- Employment verifications
- Physical examinations
- Clearinghouse requirements
- Partner with safety and transportation teams to ensure all regulatory requirements are met prior to hire.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to DOT compliance and hiring records.
Candidate Experience & Onboarding
- Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Coordinate onboarding activities and ensure a smooth transition from candidate to employee.
- Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding documentation, including:
- I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
- W-4 and state tax forms
- Direct deposit enrollment
- Company policy acknowledgments
- Ensure all required employment documentation is completed accurately and timely.
- Support employee onboarding initiatives to improve retention and engagement.
Applicant Tracking & Reporting
- Maintain accurate candidate records within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and HRIS platforms.
- Track recruiting metrics including:
- Time-to-fill
- Candidate pipeline activity
- Source effectiveness
- Offer acceptance rates
- Maintain applicant flow logs and documentation to support EEO and Affirmative Action compliance.
- Generate recruiting reports and provide updates to leadership regarding hiring progress and staffing trends.
Partnership with Operations & Human Resources
- Collaborate with Human Resources and operational leadership to identify staffing challenges and develop recruiting solutions.
- Participate in workforce planning discussions and hiring strategy meetings.
- Support employee referral programs and recruiting campaigns.
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives and retention efforts.
- Provide guidance to hiring managers regarding recruiting best practices and interview processes.
Administrative & Compliance Support
- Maintain confidential recruiting and employee information.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, DOT, and company employment regulations.
- Assist with audits and documentation requests related to recruiting and onboarding activities.
- Support special projects and additional Human Resources initiatives as assigned.
