Rotating Equipment Engineer

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience supporting rotating equipment in refining and petrochemical facilities. Equipment may include pumps, mixers, compressors, and turbines. This role supports engineering design, equipment procurement, construction, and unit turnarounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop equipment specifications and data sheets, technical requisitions, bid evaluations, and purchase recommendations for rotating equipment.

• Prepare conceptual layouts, cost studies, preliminary designs, material takeoffs, detailed calculations, and engineering sketches.

• Review vendor drawings, fabrication drawings, construction submittals, and drawings from other disciplines for mechanical requirements.

• Check engineering calculations for accuracy and conformance with applicable codes, specifications, and design criteria.

• Support performance and factory acceptance tests as needed.

• Provide mechanical engineering support for unit turnarounds and investigate equipment failures through root cause analysis.

• Gather field data, verify tie-ins, and provide construction support.

• Coordinate with designers and other engineering disciplines to resolve layout and detailing issues.

• Prepare construction specifications and support procurement packages for equipment, materials, and subcontract work.

• Guide less experienced engineering and drafting personnel and coordinate work shared across offices to meet scope, schedule, and budget.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering experience with rotating equipment in refining or petrochemical facilities.

• Knowledge of pumps, mixers, compressors, and turbines.

• Understanding of risk based inspection, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and strength of materials.

• Familiarity with applicable API and ASME standards.

• Ability to prepare and review calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical procurement documents.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with engineering, design, procurement, vendor, and construction teams.
