DWH Engineer/ Data Engineer
Location: Eastern Suburbs
Rate: $800-$850p/d + GST
3 Months Initially, multiple extensions

We’re working with a complex organisation seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Engineer to support the uplift of an enterprise reporting platform.
This role will suit someone with strong experience designing dimensional models for historical reporting, not just building pipelines. You’ll be expected to understand business reporting requirements, challenge existing designs where needed, and build scalable data models that support accurate reporting over time.

You’ll also work hands-on with Matillion, building ETL/ELT pipelines using best-practice, component-based design rather than relying solely on embedded SQL.
Key responsibilities:

• Improve and redesign existing data warehouse models
• Build Kimball-style facts, dimensions, SCDs and conformed dimensions
• Ensure models support historical and point-in-time reporting
• Develop ETL/ELT pipelines in Matillion using native platform functionality
• Create and maintain source-to-target mapping documentation
• Validate data quality and resolve defects through to completion
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate reporting needs into robust data warehouse design

What we’re looking for:

• Strong dimensional modelling and data warehouse design experience
• Proven experience supporting historical reporting requirements
• Hands-on Matillion experience highly preferred
• Strong ETL/ELT development experience using enterprise tooling
• Excellent SQL skills, with the judgement to use the right tool for each part of the pipeline
• Strong ownership, initiative and problem-solving ability
• Clear communication skills and confidence working with business stakeholders

This is a hands-on role for someone who can improve an existing design, take ownership of the data model, and help deliver a reporting platform that properly supports business needs.
