About the Client
Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley Mine and holds a 50% interest in the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu Copper-Gold Project.
In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA Copper Mine in Cobar, NSW and is currently developing the Eva Copper Mine near Cloncurry, one of Queensland's most significant new mining developments. These operations are supported by Harmony's Australian regional corporate office in Milton, Brisbane.
With a growing pipeline of capital investment across Australasia, Harmony is continuing to strengthen its Project Services capability and is now seeking an experienced Principal, Project Controls to lead and mature the Project Controls function across the region.
About the Role
Reporting to the Group Manager, this is a key leadership position responsible for establishing best-practice Project Controls across Harmony's Australasian operational sites.
You'll provide technical leadership across cost management, planning, forecasting, reporting, estimating, risk and governance while partnering closely with Project Managers and senior stakeholders to improve project performance and support informed decision making.
This is an opportunity to move beyond project delivery and genuinely influence how major capital projects are governed and executed across the business.

- Lead the Project Controls function across Harmony's capital portfolio.
- Drive cost control, forecasting, scheduling, reporting and project performance.
- Develop and implement Project Controls systems, standards, governance and reporting frameworks.
- Provide oversight of estimating, change management, risk management and portfolio reporting.
- Develop integrated reporting across cost, schedule, risk and project performance.
- Coach and mentor a Project Controls team while driving continuous improvement across the function.
- Partner with Project Managers and senior leadership to support successful project delivery.
We're looking for an experienced Project Controls professional who has successfully led project controls teams within major capital projects.
You'll bring:
- Extensive experience leading Project Controls on major mining, resources or infrastructure projects.
- Strong background across cost control, planning, scheduling, forecasting and reporting.
- Experience developing or improving estimating and Project Controls frameworks.
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
- Advanced knowledge of excel MS Project/Primavera P6 and Power BI or similar Project Controls systems.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to drive standardisation and best practice.
- Key leadership role within a global mining organisation.
- Opportunity to shape and mature the Project Controls function.
