Apply directDirector, Material Handling
Greater Phoenix, AZ
We're conducting a search for a Director of Material Handling on behalf of a rapidly growing manufacturer investing heavily in world-class operations.
This is a leadership opportunity for someone who understands that material handling is much more than warehouse operations. The environment is a complex manufacturing operation where hundreds of components must arrive at the correct assembly station, in the correct sequence, at precisely the right time to keep production moving. With well over one million parts in inventory at any given time, success depends on designing and executing a material flow system that delivers speed, accuracy, and reliability.
The Director of Material Handling will lead the strategy, systems, and team responsible for moving material from receiving through warehouse operations and ultimately to the manufacturing line. This individual will build and continuously improve a lean, pull-based material handling system that supports high-volume production while driving safety, inventory accuracy, productivity, and operational performance.
We're looking for a leader who has built the system—not simply inherited it. Someone who knows what world-class material flow looks like and has successfully implemented the processes, infrastructure, and operating disciplines required to support large-scale manufacturing.
The ideal background includes:
- 10+ years leading material handling, manufacturing logistics, or warehouse operations within a large-scale manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting complex products requiring hundreds of components to be delivered to manufacturing stations with precision and consistency.
- Proven success designing and implementing lean material flow systems, including PFEP, Kanban, line-side delivery, supermarkets, milk runs, and pull replenishment.
- Experience managing large warehouse operations with more than one million parts in inventory.
- Strong understanding of warehouse design, inventory accuracy, material presentation, replenishment strategies, and production support.
- Demonstrated success building scalable systems and processes in a growing manufacturing operation.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to work cross-functionally across Manufacturing, Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
This is an opportunity to have a significant impact on a manufacturing organization that is scaling rapidly and investing in operational excellence. The successful candidate will help define what "best in class" looks like while building the systems and team needed to support continued growth.
Base ($175-$200K, more for the right candidate) 20% bonus opportunity, great benefits. Relocation as needed.
If this aligns with your background—or someone in your network comes to mind—I would welcome a confidential conversation.
