Job Description:
Basic Functions
Responsible for operating the tie machine, monitoring code machine for proper code and placement on packaged products, placing the product in trays or boxes, placing full containers on pallets, dollies or floor stack according to orders.
Main Duties
- Comply with company-established policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to GMP’s, housekeeping, food safety, and quality.
- Adjust the gathering brushes that flatten and straighten the bag neck. This will depend on the bag thickness.
- Thread the tyer with appropriate colored tie to be used. From time to time the machine will drop the tie in which you must re-thread the machine.
- Monitor the tying process to ensure that the bag or product is not being damaged.
- Program and adjust the coder to ensure that the codes are correct and legible for the product being wrapped. This varies depending on customer specifications.
- Maintain product integrity when placing in containers and stacking containers (trays and boxes).
- Remove damaged or dirty trays from the line so it can be washed and sanitized.
- Communicate with the slicer operator when completing an order or there’s a packaging change.
- Remove damaged products or packages from the production line.
- Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner.
- Conduct activities only after training has been provided.
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or manager.
Food Safety Responsibilities
Follow all GMP’s, to assure all packaged products have a code and are legible for traceability purposes. Ensure that when handling the product, it is handled in a manner that maintains the integrity of the product. Report any concerns with regards to product safety or quality to a supervisor or manager.
