An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join a local government team on a temporary contract to cover an extended leave period through to end of December 2026, with the possibility of extension.This role will focus primarily on food premises inspections and regulatory compliance activities, supporting a diverse range of businesses and community events across the area.
About the Role
Working within a supportive team, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting inspections of up to 60 food premises.
- Auditing food businesses and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- Inspecting temporary food vendors and community event operators
- Undertaking skin penetration premises inspections as required
- Investigating complaints and public health matters
- Issuing notices and orders where necessary
- Preparing inspection reports and maintaining accurate records
- Providing education and advice to businesses and stakeholders
To be successful, you will have:
- Qualifications recognised for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer in NSW Local Government.
- At least 3 years' Environmental Health experience
- Experience conducting food premises inspections and compliance activities
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
