Position Summary

As a Mold Maker, you will build and repair precision injection molds while supporting engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams. This role requires expertise in machining, mold assembly, troubleshooting, and working to extremely tight tolerances to ensure tooling performs at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications. 
• Build, assemble, fit, and polish precision injection molds and mold components. 
• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines. 
• Inspect components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and microscopes. 
• Diagnose tooling issues including wear, flashing, galling, and dimensional concerns, then perform repairs and modifications. 
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to complete tooling projects accurately and on schedule. 
• Maintain molds and tooling to maximize production efficiency and product quality. 
• Follow safety, quality, and housekeeping standards while maintaining an organized work area. 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. 
• Tool & Die certification or degree preferred. 
• Two or more years of mold making or tool room experience preferred. 
• Experience operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, surface grinders, EDM sinkers, and hole-burning equipment. 
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam and SolidWorks is a plus. 
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills. 
• Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment and machining techniques. 
• Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. 

Preferred Skills

• Experience building and repairing high-precision injection molds. 
• Understanding of mold cooling systems, ejection systems, and polishing techniques. 
• Knowledge of tool steel machining and finishing processes. 
• Ability to work with extremely small, precision components while maintaining tight tolerances. 

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods. 
• Manual dexterity to work with small precision components and specialized tools. 
• Ability to lift up to 55 pounds. 
• Strong close vision and color vision, including the ability to use microscopes and precision inspection equipment.
