ROLE Business Leader - Wellington ROLE PURPOSE As the Business Leader – Wellington you’ll drive growth, performance, and delivery in Vitruvius' Wellington region, leading people and projects to achieve the business' financial, quality, and client relationship targets. For each project a project team is established which may be considered as a temporary organisation structure and can be illustrated below. The Business Leader - Wellington will be assigned to a role within the Project Team which may include Project Director or Project Leader when working on client projects. The quality of delivery is critical, and every project team member is expected to fulfil the quality responsibilities of their assigned role, including applying project requirements, completing required reviews/checks, maintaining records, and escalating quality issues where needed. REGIONAL LEADERSHIP AND BUSINESS PERFORMANCE • Lead the Wellington region as a visible senior leader, translating Vitruvius’ strategy into clear regional priorities, performance expectations, and delivery outcomes. Business Leader - Wellington | September 2026 | Page 2 • Own regional performance against agreed revenue, margin, utilisation, billability, backlog, pipeline, client, quality, and people measures. • Develop and implement the Wellington business plan, aligned with Vitruvius’ sector plans and national growth priorities. • Monitor regional performance and take timely action to address risks, gaps, resourcing constraints, or underperformance. • Contribute to company-wide leadership, decision-making, and continuous improvement as a senior leader within the business. 2. PEOPLE LEADERSHIP, CAPABILITY AND CULTURE • Build, lead, and retain a high-performing Wellington team with clear expectations, accountability, development pathways, and succession plans. • Coach and support Service Leaders, Project Leaders, and technical professionals to lift delivery, commercial, and leadership capability. • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and resourcing decisions in line with pipeline, growth plans, and capability needs. • Lead a strong local office culture that reflects Vitruvius’ purpose and values, including collaboration, professional standards, wellbeing, and accountability. • Address performance, conduct, and capability issues early, fairly, and directly, with support from the Business Support team as required. 3. CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS, MARKET PRESENCE AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT • Strengthen Vitruvius’ Wellington market presence through trusted relationships with key clients, partners, consultants, contractors, and sector stakeholders. • Develop and maintain key client and opportunity plans, with clear ownership of relationship activity, pipeline movement, and conversion. • Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities aligned with Vitruvius’ strategy, capability, risk appetite, and commercial expectations. • Support Sector Leaders with local market intelligence, capture planning, proposal strategy, bid/no-bid decisions, and high quality submissions to clients. • Promote the broader Vitruvius offering and actively connect clients with relevant capability across the business. 4. PROJECT DELIVERY, QUALITY AND RISK • Provide oversight of Wellington project delivery to ensure work is delivered safely, profitably, on time, to scope, and to the required technical and quality standards. • Ensure Project Leaders and project teams apply the Project Delivery Framework, QMS requirements, delegated authorities, contract requirements, and review/check processes. • Monitor project performance, including programme, budget, margin, variation management, resourcing, client satisfaction, quality issues, and delivery risk. • Escalate and resolve delivery, contractual, technical, or client issues early, using sound judgement and appropriate governance. • Champion lessons learnt, corrective actions, and practical improvements that lift consistency, quality, and delivery performance across the region. TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND PROFESSIONAL JUDGEMENT • Provide technical leadership within area of competence, ensuring project teams have appropriate guidance, review, and verification to support sound technical outcomes. • Apply senior professional judgement to complex technical, delivery, contractual, and client issues, escalating matters where specialist input or governance is required. • Support technical quality by promoting clear standards, consistent methodologies, robust checking processes, and compliance with relevant industry requirements. • Act as verifier for design outputs within area of competency, where appropriate, and ensure verification requirements are planned and completed effectively. • Champion safety in design, practical innovation, lessons learnt, and continuous improvement in technical delivery. • Maintain professional credibility through ongoing technical awareness, sector knowledge, and contribution to a culture of technical excellence across Vitruvius. 6. FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE • Own Wellington’s financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, utilisation, billability, recoverability, work-in-progress, and contribution to business plan targets. • Monitor, and manage regional budgets, forecasts, resourcing assumptions, and pipeline projections. • Make commercially sound decisions on pricing, resourcing, delivery models, risk, client commitments, and opportunity selection. • Work with Project Leaders and support functions to improve project margins, manage variations, reduce leakage, and strengthen financial discipline. • Operate within delegated financial and contractual authorities and escalate matters where required. 7. HEALTH, SAFETY & WELLBEING • Lead a proactive health, safety, and wellbeing culture within the Wellington region, ensuring expectations are understood, visible, and consistently reinforced. • Ensure regional activities comply with relevant health and safety, environmental, quality, employment, and professional obligations. • Support hazard identification, incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and learning across the team. • Ensure safe design, site safety, and project-specific HSW requirements are considered through planning, delivery, and review. • Model safe, professional, and ethical decision-making in line with Vitruvius’ standards and values. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Essential Desirable • 10+ years’ experience as a business professional • Specific civil engineering experience in 3 waters, rail or civil infrastructure, roads or transport. • Demonstrated client relationship management • Technical excellence and high-level project delivery acumen • Exceptional problem-solving capability to resolve complex technical and operational challenges • Excellent English written and oral communication skills capable of presenting complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. • Project Leadership on planning, design, and delivery major projects >$50M CAPEX • Leadership role on industry technical/professional body 2.
