• Employment type: Part time ( week one - 4 days/week, week two – 3 days/week ) 
• Working hours: 7hrs /day 
• Pay rate to candidate: $63.35- $69.89 per hour

An opportunity is available for an experienced Fire Safety & Building Maintenance Officer to join a leading NSW Government organisation, supporting the delivery and compliance of specialised fire safety maintenance across a significant residential property portfolio. This is a hands-on, field-focused role suited to someone with experience across fire safety, building maintenance, construction, essential services or property inspections.

Working within a specialist Fire Safety Maintenance team, you will conduct on-site and desktop compliance inspections, ensuring maintenance activities meet relevant Australian Standards, contractual requirements and agreed performance standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting on-site and desktop fire safety and building maintenance inspections
• Inspecting fire detection and alarm systems, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting and other essential fire safety measures
• Assessing maintenance works against AS 1851, relevant Australian Standards and building requirements
• Identifying defects, non-compliance and required rectification works
• Preparing detailed inspection and compliance reports
• Monitoring the quality and performance of maintenance contractors
• Supporting risk-based quality assurance activities
• Liaising with contractors, internal stakeholders and other team members to resolve maintenance and compliance issues
• Maintaining accurate inspection records and supporting program reporting
• Undertaking statewide site inspections, including occasional overnight travel where required

Skills and experience required:

• Understanding of AS 1851, Australian Building Codes and relevant Australian Standards
• A relevant qualification in fire safety, building or construction and/or strong practical industry experience
• Experience conducting field inspections and measuring work against compliance, quality or contractual standards
• Strong knowledge of residential property maintenance and improvement works
• Experience working with maintenance contractors and service providers
• Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting/documentation skills
• A current driver's licence
• Ability and willingness to undertake statewide travel

Experience conducting compliance inspections of building essential services and exposure to fire safety maintenance within apartment or residential buildings will be highly regarded.
