Deputy Manager Location: South West London Salary: Up to £55,000 (DOE) About the Home A well-established, purpose-built nursing home providing nursing and dementia care is seeking a Deputy Manager. The service has a stable team, strong community links, and a supportive senior leadership structure. This role is pivotal in maintaining high standards of safety, dignity and clinical excellence while nurturing an engaged, values-driven workforce. What you’ll be doing Operational leadership: Support in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring safe staffing/skill mix, smooth handovers, and effective rota management. Clinical governance: Oversee care planning and risk management; drive medication safety (incl. eMAR), falls/pressure-area prevention, nutrition/hydration monitoring, and accurate documentation. Quality & CQC readiness: Run the audit calendar (care plans, meds, IPC, environment, night checks), produce action plans, track completion and keep inspection evidence current against the CQC Single Assessment Framework. Safeguarding & compliance: Act as a safeguarding lead, ensuring robust practice in MCA/DoLS, incident/RCA learning, complaint handling and duty of candour. People leadership: Coach and develop nurses and carers; complete supervisions/appraisals; support preceptorship and competency sign-offs; champion a just culture and staff wellbeing. Admissions & occupancy: Complete pre-admission assessments, liaise with families/hospitals/commissioners, and coordinate seamless move-ins to maintain safe occupancy and positive first impressions. Family & MDT relationships: Be a visible, approachable point of contact for residents and relatives; build strong links with GPs, tissue viability, SALT, mental health and community teams. On-call & escalation: Share on-call duties and deputise fully for the Home Manager when required. About you Proven leadership in a nursing home setting (Deputy, Clinical Lead, Unit Manager). NMC registration (RGN/RMN/RNLD) preferred with current clinical skills and confidence working alongside the team on the floor. Clear understanding of CQC regulations, governance cycles, and evidence requirements. Strong organiser and communicator—able to prioritise, remain calm under pressure, and model person-centred values. Digitally confident (electronic care records/eMAR); comfortable using data and KPIs to drive improvement. What’s on offer Up to £55,000 (DOE).
