Overview

TDRS Recruitment is working exclusively with a major international organisation to appoint a Head of Equipment Installation UK.

This is a senior operational leadership position with responsibility for a national, project-led installation function.

Reporting at senior leadership level, you will lead a multidisciplinary operational team while taking significant responsibility for project delivery, customer performance, subcontractor management, operational improvement and financial results.

This opportunity will particularly suit an established operational leader who enjoys improving a function rather than simply maintaining one.

The Role

You will lead Project Managers alongside planning and Drawing Office functions responsible for delivering equipment installation projects throughout the UK.

Installation is currently delivered through subcontract partners, making strong subcontractor management, project governance and commercial control particularly important.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing operational and project teams
• Overseeing the successful delivery of installation projects
• Driving stronger project and cost control
• Improving forecasting, revenue and margin performance
• Managing key subcontractor relationships
• Building relationships with customers and main contractors
• Providing senior-level escalation and problem solving
• Improving customer communication throughout project delivery
• Monitoring operational KPIs and reporting
• Driving process and performance improvement
• Working closely with sales and commercial functions
• Ensuring appropriate governance and operational discipline
• Helping build the right structure and team for future performance

This is not a position where you'll personally manage every installation project.

Your Project Managers own individual project delivery; your job is to provide the leadership, commercial oversight, direction and accountability that allows the wider function to perform.

Our client is a large international organisation and established leader within its market.

The UK business forms part of a significantly larger global group and delivers engineered equipment and installation solutions into demanding commercial and industrial environments.

This appointment offers the combination of global organisational backing with genuine UK operational ownership.

The successful person will join the senior leadership structure and have significant influence over how the installation function develops.

Candidate Profile

Direct experience within the door industry would be advantageous, but is not essential.

We are particularly interested in speaking with operational leaders from project-led environments such as: Automatic Doors, Gate & Barrier, Building services, M&E, HVAC, Lift & Escalator, Fire & Security

You'll ideally bring experience of:

• Leading managers and multidisciplinary operational teams
• Installation/project delivery
• Managing multiple concurrent projects
• Main contractor relationships
• Subcontractor management
• Commercial and project cost control
• Revenue, margin and forecasting
• Customer relationship management
• Operational KPIs and reporting
• Change and continuous improvement
• Data-led decision making
• Senior stakeholder management

Strong Excel/data capability and commercial awareness will also be important.

This role requires someone capable of combining people leadership with operational and financial discipline.
