Apply directNorth Sydney | Hybrid working 12-month fixed-term contract $75 to $85 per hour plus leave accrual people2people are partnering with a global renewable energy organisation to recruit an experienced Project Manager for a busy portfolio of utility-scale solar, BESS and power conversion projects.
This role is suited to someone who has already worked within utility-scale renewable energy and can take ownership of complex projects with minimal training. You will manage projects from contract handover through delivery, commissioning and closeout, acting as the primary contact between customers, local teams and international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage utility-scale solar, BESS and power conversion projects from contract award through to completion
- Lead internal and external project kick-off meetings
- Review contracts and identify key risks, obligations, milestones and deliverables
- Monitor equipment manufacturing, procurement, deliveries, payments and project documentation
- Confirm technical specifications and services align with contractual commitments
- Manage contract variations, scope changes and commercial impacts
- Identify potential cost or schedule slippage and develop mitigation strategies
- Provide clear project updates to customers, senior stakeholders and global teams
- Coordinate across Engineering, Commercial, Sales, Service, Operations and Logistics
- Maintain strong customer relationships and manage escalations or difficult conversations
About You
- Demonstrated Project Management experience within utility-scale solar, BESS, power generation or renewable energy
- Proven experience managing projects from contract handover through delivery, commissioning and closeout
- Strong contract administration experience, including variations, milestones, risk management and reporting
- Technical understanding of solar inverters, battery systems, grid-connected infrastructure or power conversion systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline
- Strong customer and stakeholder management capability
- Confident communicating with technical, commercial and senior stakeholders
- Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple complex projects concurrently
- Able to step into an active project portfolio and operate effectively with limited training
The Opportunity
- Competitive rate of $75 to $85 per hour, depending on experience
- Leave accrual throughout the 12-month assignment
- Hybrid arrangement with three days in the North Sydney office and two days from home

- Exposure to major utility-scale renewable energy projects across Australia
- Occasional domestic site travel
This role requires genuine utility-scale project experience. Candidates coming solely from residential or smaller commercial solar projects are unlikely to be suitable.
