Overview:
Are you a seasoned Prognostics & Health Monitoring (PHM) Engineer passionate about advancing autonomous vehicle technology? We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled contractor to lead the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated offline health monitoring algorithms and prognostic models tailored for a fleet of cutting-edge autonomous vehicles. This role plays a critical part in enabling proactive maintenance, reducing downtime, and ensuring optimal performance of our hardware components through innovative data-driven solutions. Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of specialized experience in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM), predictive maintenance, or reliability engineering
- Strong proficiency in Python and PySpark for large-scale data manipulation and feature engineering
- Hands-on experience with Databricks platform for development, deployment, and dashboard creation
- Experience deploying workflows with tools like Apache Airflow DAGs and version control systems such as Git
- Deep understanding of anomaly detection, time-series forecasting, survival analysis, and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Skilled in signal processing techniques including FFT, wavelet transforms, and filtering applied to sensor data
- Proven ability to perform large-scale ETL processes, data cleaning, and feature extraction from raw telemetry
- Experience in developing production-grade deployment pipelines and fleet result dashboards
- Knowledge of hardware failure modes, fatigue, degradation models, and FMEA/FMECA methodologies
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience within the Automotive or Aerospace sectors
- Familiarity with deploying batch-processing or offline analytical scripts utilizing Docker, AWS, GCP, or similar cloud infrastructure
- Large-scale data storage and querying experience (SQL, Databricks, Spark)
- Master’s or Ph.D. in relevant engineering or data science disciplines
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or related fields
- 3+ years of focused experience in PHM, predictive maintenance, or reliability engineering
Other Requirements:
- Location: Foster City, CA (onsite; remote work not specified)
- Contract duration: 6+ months, with an immediate start preferred
- W2 employment only; no C2C arrangements
- Must be able to work independently and communicate technical findings clearly
- Willingness to rigorously back-test models and ensure reliable deployment practices
