In this project manager role you will be responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of building project implementation activities, including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration, and post-construction services.
You will work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes while maintaining strong project governance, financial performance, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage building projects through all phases of delivery, including planning, design, documentation, construction, and post-construction activities.
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, timeframes, budgets, cash-flow requirements, and quality standards.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, local authorities, and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate and oversee project teams, including external consultants and internal staff, to achieve project objectives.
- Administer traditional and non-traditional building contracts and provide high-level contract coordination.
- Lead negotiations with stakeholders to identify and deliver value-for-money outcomes.
- Monitor project performance, manage risks, control variances, and prepare exception reports relating to project costs and timelines.
- Conduct project audits and evaluate project team performance as required.
- Assist in determining project fees and facilitate client billing approvals where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and organizational policies.
Successful candidate
- Proven experience in project management, preferably within the building, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong professional relationships.
- Demonstrated expertise in project coordination, problem-solving, and delivering outcomes in complex environments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Sound commercial awareness and an understanding of project financial management.
- The ability to work collaboratively while exercising sound professional judgement and initiative.
Highly Desirable
- Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
- Familiarity with the Far North Queensland (FNQ) region.
- A current and valid driver's license.
Mandatory Requirements
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Proven capability in project coordination, stakeholder management, and problem-solving.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
