THE COMPANY YOU WOULD BE JOINING
  • This company is Australia's leading telehealth service. Their network of Australian-qualified physicians serves regional and metropolitan hospitals, residential aged care facilities, ambulance services, primary health networks, and private organisations nationwide, with over 450,000 consultations delivered to date.
  • The business is undergoing a deliberate strategic evolution: from an on-demand emergency response provider to an embedded clinical stability partner supporting health providers across the full continuum of care. This means deliberately broadening beyond their strong foundation, reducing over-reliance on a single clinical service line and building a genuinely integrated virtual health offering that meets patients, clinicians, and health systems at every stage of the care journey.
THE ROLE – WHAT YOU WILL LEAD & GROW
  • This Head of Growth & Business Development position, reporting to the CEO, owns this organisation’s commercial growth agenda and is directly accountable for revenue outcomes.
  • The role requires someone who leads from the front, personally managing senior client relationships, driving deals, and building pipeline through direct market engagement. This is not a consult-and-direct role; it is a builds commercial plans from real buyer conversations where execution and personal accountability for results define success.
  • A detailed commercial plan has already been developed. The incoming person is not expected to start from scratch. The immediate task is to pick up the plan, deepen the market discovery and buyer validation behind it, and re-present a refined version, grounded in real conversations with target buyers within the first six to twelve months.
  • The near-term revenue plan is already substantially developed and largely executable by the existing team. The primary mandate of this role is to go deeper into the market: to validate new target segments, ie. Aged Care, Private Hospitals, and broader state health opportunities, through direct engagement, and to use the next 12 months to generate early commercial traction while properly defining the 12 to 48 month growth horizon to support the strategic plan to build out a fully integrated virtual health business.
  • The successful person will take direct, hands-on accountability for revenue performance which means being in the market, in front of prospects, and personally driving outcomes.
  • You will personally lead senior prospect and client relationships in the regional public hospital segment, the foundation of the business, including major renewals, expansion conversations, and key LHD/LHN/HHS executive engagement, across Australia.
  • You will drive pipeline discipline across the BD team: named accounts, clear stages, realistic probabilities, and defined next actions reviewed on a regular cadence and report to the CEO and Board on revenue performance, pipeline status, retention risk, and new segment progress, with the transparency and rigour the Board expects.
  • You will lead, develop, and hold accountable the current BD team, building a commercial culture defined by market validation, pipeline rigour, and personal accountability for outcomes.
  • You will execute the planned team expansion of two to three hires in FY27, with further growth in FY28 contingent on pipeline performance and within approximately 12 months, absorb responsibility for the marketing function, aligning it tightly to commercial priorities including segment narratives, proof assets, case studies, and tender support.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO GET THE JOB
  • Tertiary qualifications in health management, business, or a related discipline with postgraduate qualifications well-regarded but secondary to demonstrated experience.
  • Experience with Australian public sector health procurement and tender processes, particularly at LHD or state health network level with relationships within NSW Health, Queensland Health, and/or other state health systems at executive or clinical director level.
  • The sale is trust-based, relationship-led, and deeply embedded in the clinical and operational culture of the buyer. It is a fundamentally different proposition from selling health technology or digital health products and requires a person who understands the Australian health system from the inside: how public procurement works, who actually shapes decisions, and how to build the clinical and executive trust that translates into long-term contracts.
  • Proven track record of personally building and converting a sales pipeline from named target accounts, not just leading a team that does it, but doing it directly with experience validating new market segments through direct buyer engagement and converting that validation into structured commercial plans.
  • Experience leading small commercial teams, including hiring, developing, and holding people accountable.
  • You will have full Australian working rights.
