Health and Safety Manager / Health and Safety Officer

Location: Newport with travel across additional UK sites

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000

Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Rota based between 08:00 and 19:00

The Business

Our client is a well established and rapidly expanding organisation operating within the self storage and commercial property sector. With multiple sites across the UK and ambitious growth plans, they have built a reputation for delivering excellent customer service, strong operational performance and high compliance standards.

As the business continues to grow, they are seeking a Health and Safety professional to support and enhance safety, compliance and fire management standards across their UK operations.

The Opportunity

This opportunity is open to both experienced Health and Safety Managers and ambitious Health and Safety Officers looking to take the next step in their career.

The role will particularly suit candidates who have gained Health and Safety experience within office based, commercial, customer service, contact centre, retail, facilities management, property, telecommunications, business services or other professional working environments where compliance, risk management and stakeholder engagement are key.

Reporting directly into senior leadership, you will be responsible for driving a positive safety culture and ensuring Health and Safety compliance across multiple operational sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site audits, inspections and risk assessments across multiple locations

• Manage and support fire risk assessment programmes and corrective actions

• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing detailed reports and recommendations

• Develop, review and implement Health and Safety policies and procedures

• Deliver Health and Safety training, coaching and guidance to managers and operational teams

• Advise stakeholders on legislation, compliance requirements and best practice

• Promote a proactive Health and Safety culture across the organisation

• Monitor legislative updates and ensure compliance standards remain current

• Support operational teams with risk management and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' recent experience within a Health and Safety role at either Officer or Manager level

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification

• NEBOSH Fire Certificate (Fire Safety and Fire Safety Management)

• COSHH trained

• Experience conducting and managing fire risk assessments

• Strong accident investigation and incident management experience

• Experience delivering training and influencing managers and stakeholders

• Excellent understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation

• Experience working within office based, commercial, customer service, contact centre, retail, property, facilities management or similar environments

• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills

• Full UK driving licence

Additional Information

This is a hands on role requiring regular travel across multiple UK locations.
