Apply directWe’re hiring a high-impact Product & Process Engineer to own end-to-end process performance and product/process robustness across a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can move comfortably between shop-floor troubleshooting, structured problem-solving, and driving controlled change—improving yield, cycle time, capability, and compliance.
You’ll be a key technical partner to Production and Quality, using data and engineering fundamentals to implement sustainable improvements in a precision engineering / machining-led operation.
What you’ll be responsible for (scope & outcomes)
- Own process performance across production: identify constraints, stabilise processes, and drive measurable improvements in throughput, quality, scrap, downtime, and cycle time.
- Be the technical SME for manufacturing issues: lead troubleshooting on recurring defects, capability gaps, equipment/process variation, and build robust countermeasures.
- Product + process optimisation: collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop, design, trial, and validate new or improved processes aligned to product requirements.
- Lead controlled change using formal Change Control to plan, execute, and hand over changes with Production to ensure adoption and sustained performance.
- Data-led decision making: analyse performance trends and translate insights into clear actions and priorities.
- Continuous improvement delivery: lead and support improvement projects using Lean / Six Sigma tools and solid project management.
- Work with external suppliers/vendors when required on tooling, fixtures, equipment modifications, process upgrades, and technical trials.
- Communicate clearly on the floor: simplify technical concepts for operators/technicians and ensure processes are understood, repeatable, and controlled.
What we’re looking for (must-haves)
- Medical device or other regulated manufacturing experience (GMP/ISO environment) with strong compliance mindset.
- 6+ years’ experience in Process Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering within precision engineering.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- Strong analytical capability: able to interpret data, spot trends, and implement effective countermeasures.
- Comfortable working independently, owning priorities, and driving work through to completion.
- Proven ability to collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
- SolidWorks (3D modelling) proficiency (required).
- Lean Six Sigma certification (or demonstrable CI project delivery).
- Experience with validation/regulated documentation (e.g., IQ/OQ/PQ, process validation approach).
- Exposure to tooling/fixture design, process capability studies, DOE, or automated inspection.
