Client is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead medium- to high-complexity, cross-functional projects from initiation through completion. This role will manage enterprise application implementations and enhancements supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety, plant maintenance, and refining operations.
The Senior IT Project Manager will oversee project scope, schedule, cost, financial reporting, risk management, vendor coordination, governance, executive communication, and project delivery across business and IT workstreams.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead assigned IT PMO projects with minimal supervision.
- Manage cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation and closure.
- Partner with business stakeholders, IT stakeholders, delivery leads, system integrators, consultants, and vendors.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules using Microsoft Project or OnePlan.
- Manage project scope, schedule, cost, quality, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Lead multi-million-dollar projects involving multidisciplinary teams and multiple functional workstreams.
- Coordinate implementation responsibilities shared across system integrators, vendors, and consulting firms.
- Prepare weekly project status reports and executive-level PowerPoint presentations.
- Communicate project timelines, accomplishments, upcoming activities, health indicators, risks, issues, decisions, and escalations.
- Facilitate governance meetings, status reviews, stand-ups, workshops, training sessions, and strategic project meetings.
- Document meeting minutes, action items, decisions, risks, issues, and follow-up activities.
- Maintain project financial forecasts, budgets, accruals, reclassifications, invoicing, and variance reporting.
- Partner with project leadership to validate financial reporting and communicate budget variances.
- Monitor vendor deliverables, statements of work, invoices, schedules, and project commitments.
- Proactively identify, document, assign, and manage project risks, actions, issues, and decisions.
- Apply change control and escalation processes to manage changes in scope, schedule, and cost.
- Ensure project artifacts, documentation, presentations, and deliverables follow established PMO governance standards.
- Support QA and user acceptance testing tracking for large-scale enterprise projects.
- Define, promote, and enforce effective project management practices across project teams.
- Build consensus, develop contingency plans, and recommend solutions that move projects forward.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable governance and compliance standards.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
- Experience managing medium- to high-complexity IT projects.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar projects and multidisciplinary teams across functional workstreams.
- Experience leading implementation projects involving multiple system integrators, vendors, and consulting organizations.
- Previous finance experience.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, accruals, reclassifications, and financial variances.
- Strong understanding of project scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk management.
- Experience partnering with business and IT stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Ability to read and understand business and technical requirements.
- Experience managing project governance, status reporting, escalation, and change control processes.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to work in an Agile-like project environment.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Project skills or experience with OnePlan.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills, including creating multiple executive-level presentations each week.
- Ability to identify, document, and manage risks, issues, actions, and decisions.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Project Management Professional certification.
- Experience working in an information technology environment.
Preferred Skills or Experience
- 8–10 years of experience managing projects supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety, operations, or plant maintenance.
- Experience supporting refining or energy organizations.
- Experience with Enablon, SAP PCMS, Prometheus, Sigmafine, or BLISS 40.
- Experience using qTest for reporting and tracking quality assurance and user acceptance testing activities.
- Master's degree.
