Shape the Future of a Growing Women’s Health Service
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to lead a growing Obstetrics and Gynaecology service within a progressive South Australian regional health network.

The Location
Enjoy the professional benefits of regional medicine without feeling disconnected from city life. It is an ideal location for clinicians and families seeking greater space, a more relaxed lifestyle and meaningful professional opportunities without relocating to a remote area.
The hospital is situated within easy reach of Adelaide, allowing access to metropolitan amenities, an international airport, universities, excellent schools and major cultural and sporting events.

The surrounding region offers:
  • A relaxed and welcoming community.
  • More affordable housing than central metropolitan areas.
  • Easy access to renowned food and wine destinations.
  • Excellent local produce, restaurants and weekend markets.
  • Open spaces, walking trails and outdoor recreation.
  • A family-friendly lifestyle with a manageable commute.
  • The opportunity to enjoy regional living while maintaining strong links with Adelaide.
Based at a busy regional hospital serving one of the state’s fastest-growing communities, this position offers the rare combination of clinical variety, leadership autonomy and regional practice while remaining conveniently connected to metropolitan Adelaide.

As Head of Unit, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership across antenatal, labour and birth, postnatal and gynaecology services. You will also have protected time to lead service development, clinical governance, quality improvement and workforce initiatives.

The Hospital
This expanding regional health service provides an increasingly broad and complex range of specialist, acute and community-based services.
Continued population growth is creating increased demand for maternity and women’s health services, offering the incoming Head of Unit a genuine opportunity to influence future models of care, develop clinical capability and support the sustainable growth of the department.

You will join a committed and supportive multidisciplinary team with strong connections across hospital, community and primary care services. The organisation has a clear focus on safe, compassionate and collaborative care, alongside staff development, innovation and improved access to services.

This is an opportunity to become part of a hospital entering an important phase of growth—not simply maintaining an established service but helping determine what it becomes.

Your Role
As Head of Unit, you will:
  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Obstetrics and Gynaecology services.
  • Deliver high-quality specialist care across maternity and gynaecology.
  • Lead, mentor and support medical and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability and professional development.
  • Drive service innovation, clinical governance and quality improvement.
  • Support safe, contemporary and evidence-based models of care.
  • Contribute to workforce planning and sustainable service growth.
  • Develop strong relationships across the health network and wider community.
  • Support teaching, supervision and the development of junior medical staff.
  • Improve access and outcomes for women, babies and families across the region.
What Is Offered?
  • Indicative Total Remuneration of $355,428–$509,367 per annum.
  • Additional $10,333 annual managerial allowance.
  • Ongoing full-time employment as a consultant.
  • Initial three-year Head of Unit appointment.
  • A balanced clinical and leadership portfolio.
  • Protected time for leadership, service development and professional activities.
  • Significant professional autonomy and influence.
  • Generous leave provisions.
  • Professional development opportunities and allowances.
  • Private practice arrangements, where applicable.
  • Employee Assistance Program access for you and your family.
  • Health and wellbeing benefits, including access to a discounted fitness program.
The total remuneration package may include award salary, managerial and remote-call allowances, professional development, attraction and retention allowances, superannuation and applicable private practice arrangements.

About You
We are seeking an accomplished Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who offers:
  • Broad clinical expertise across obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership or service-management experience.
  • A commitment to clinical excellence, governance and patient safety.
  • The ability to lead and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
  • A collaborative, approachable and inclusive leadership style.
  • An interest in teaching, mentoring and workforce development.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • A commitment to culturally safe and patient-centred care.
