We are seeking an experienced Fitter & Turner / CNC Operator to join our client's manufacturing team in Noble Park. This hands-on role is ideal for a trade-qualified professional who enjoys working with precision machinery, solving technical challenges, and producing high-quality components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for machining, fitting, assembly, and CNC operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Machining & Fitting
- Set up and operate lathes, saws, burnishing equipment, and CNC machinery
- Perform precision machining operations to engineering specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances and select appropriate tooling and materials
- Diagnose machine faults and perform routine maintenance and adjustments
- Inspect and test components using precision measuring instruments including micrometres and Vernier calipers
- Support special projects from planning and fabrication through to assembly and testing
- Configure, calibrate, and operate CNC machines
- Set tooling and attachments for machining requirements
- Conduct test runs and monitor production processes
- Maintain production records and quality documentation
- Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with specifications
- Identify maintenance requirements and report equipment issues promptly
- Assemble pneumatic and electrical drive systems
- Test products to required standards
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and participate in 5S activities
- Assist with material handling and general production activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safety meetings
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualifications in Fitting & Turning, Machining, CNC Operation, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong experience operating CNC machinery and machine tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve production issues
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical capability to work in an industrial environment, including prolonged standing and manual handling tasks
