We are partnering with a leading fleet and workshop operator to appoint a senior Workshop Manager.


About the Opportunity

This is a senior leadership appointment responsible for the overall performance, safety, and profitability of a high-volume heavy vehicle workshop based in NSW.
The Workshop Manager will take ownership of end-to-end workshop operations, including workforce leadership, fleet readiness, financial performance, and continuous improvement. This role is pivotal in ensuring maintenance services are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest operational standards.
You will operate as a key interface between operations, branch leadership, and the broader business, driving accountability, performance, and service excellence.

 
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Full leadership of workshop operations, workflow, and output
  • Development and performance management of trades, apprentices, and contractors
  • Oversight of preventative maintenance programs and fleet availability
  • Financial stewardship including budgets, labour utilisation, and job costing
  • Governance of WHS, NHVR, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Oversight of repair quality, audit processes, and operational standards
  • Inventory, tooling, procurement, and supplier performance management
  • KPI ownership across productivity, safety, cost control, and service delivery
  • Delivery of continuous improvement and Lean initiatives
About You
You are a proven operational leader within heavy vehicle, transport, or fleet maintenance environments with the ability to balance hands-on operational awareness with strategic oversight.
You will bring:

  • Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Automotive, or Mechanical discipline
  • Significant experience in workshop leadership or senior management roles
  • Strong command of WHS, compliance, and heavy vehicle regulatory environments
  • Demonstrated capability in budget management and operational performance
  • High-level people leadership and workforce development experience
  • A structured, solutions-focused approach to continuous improvement
  • Current driver’s licence
