Job Summary: 

 

The Engineering Technician performs technical analyses, conducts experiments and testing, collects and documents data, and supports engineers in product development, prototype fabrication, suit testing and continuous improvement initiatives. This position works independently on complex assignments and contributes to product quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

 

*Essential Job Functions:

  • Demonstrate and promote compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assist engineers with the analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and support of machines, tools, equipment, and mechanical systems.
  • Repair, rework, or modify mechanical assemblies to ensure compliance with operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Fabricate and assemble mechanical prototypes from blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and sketches.
  • Conduct functional, operational, structural, leakage, and reliability testing of prototype and production units using required Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Collect, analyze, document, and report test data and any anomalies found.
  • Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and failure analysis activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and records related to testing, troubleshooting, and product evaluations.
  • Perform complex tasks and completes assignments with minimal or no supervision.
  • Exercise independent judgment while working within established procedures and engineering standards.
  • Support suit demonstrations and testing activities utilizing required GSE.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Must be able to access shared database with government programs and NASA facilities required to support testing activities (i.e., U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person)
  • Requires high school diploma or trade school certification
  • 3+ years of relevant technical, manufacturing, testing, or engineering support experience.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and GSE.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with peers, cross-functional teams, and external customers.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to gather, document, analyze, and report technical information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant technical certifications, specialized training, or industry-recognized credentials.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, manufacturing, product development, testing, or laboratory environments.

This position is performed in a manufacturing and testing environment where the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. Employees will frequently work near moving mechanical equipment and may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, airborne particulates, fumes, and hazardous chemicals. The work environment generally has a moderate noise level.

The role requires working in production and testing environments for extended periods and occasionally lifting or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Visual abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus and adjust vision as needed to safely perform job duties.
