An exciting opportunity has become available for a commercially focused Finance & Commercial Manager to join a growing business based in North Melbourne.

This hands-on role will oversee the day-to-day finance operations while partnering closely with Operations and Estimating teams to improve financial performance, reporting, and business processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day finance operations including cashflow, AP, AR, payroll, and reporting
  • Prepare cashflow forecasts and supplier payment schedules
  • Oversee invoice approvals, supplier management, and retention tracking
  • Manage monthly WIP reporting, job costing, project performance, and margin analysis
  • Partner with Operations to identify cost savings, risks, and efficiency improvements
  • Improve finance systems, processes, reporting, and data accuracy
  • Work closely with external bookkeepers and accountants to ensure compliance and timely reporting
About YouYou will be a proactive finance professional with experience in a hands-on commercial environment.

Ideally, you will have:
  • Experience in finance, accounting, or commercial operations
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, and project reporting
  • Construction, trades, engineering, or project-based industry experience preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with Xero (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner with operational teams
  • A continuous improvement mindset and ability to work autonomously
Qualifications
  • Finance, Accounting, or Business qualification preferred
  • CPA/CA highly regarded but not essential
  • Current driver's licence required
